The Experience

underline

Theatres must be designed to serve three groups of people: the Performers, the Technical Staff, and the Audience.

For the Performers and Technicians, the stage and backstage spaces are places of business, of efficiency and utility. Time is of the essence for the users, so the more efficiently all the steps of preparation and performance can be done, the happier the users are. A theatre is also to some extent their temporary home, comfort and a few amenities go a long way towards giving them a positive impression of the facility.

For Audience members, a theatre is a place of excitement, the physical embodiment of the emotional experience of the event they are going to see. Lobby spaces must be beautiful and gracious gathering places. The auditorium must be glowing and lovely, with excellent acoustics, sightlines, and comfort. These are the qualities of the building that enhance their feeling of being part of a special group on a gala occasion.

Ward Design Group takes particular care that for everyone, the experience of the facility is a special one.

Commendation

"Ward Design Group distinguishes itself via superlative service and exceptional follow through coupled with an in-depth understanding of all performing arts processes. WDG was a pleasure to work with. The client and some of the design team had a learning curve for developing the spaces and Dale (head CEO of Ward Design Group) guided us with his enthusiasm to teach and flair of problem solving. WDG is a must for any theater project. I would highly recommend they get on board during the programming phase of the project. Their expertise in the entire theater envelope the invaluable."
